CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md., June 20, 2018 – APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) welcomed local dignitaries and special guests to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of its thirteenth branch, serving the Chesapeake City community in Cecil County, Maryland Wednesday, June 13.

The new full-service location offers members and businesses convenient hours six days a week, and fills the need for a local financial institution in an historic community.

County Councilman Bob Meffley, Town Councilman Frank Vari, and Chesapeake City Mayor Rich Taylor welcomed the credit union to the town of Chesapeake City remarking on the importance of having a financial institution committed to serving the community. Joined by APGFCU CEO Don Lewis, and Board Chairman Barry Decker, Cecil County Executive Alan McCarthy and Constituent Liaison Michael L. Arntz, Sr., from the office of Congressman Andy Harris, cut the ceremonial ribbon symbolizing the beginning of APGFCU’s new partnership with the Chesapeake City community.

“Credit unions are all about people helping people and serving the community,” said Decker in his remarks. “So, when we learned the only financial institution in this area was closing its doors, we knew this was a place we needed to be. It is our desire to make access to credit union services as convenient as possible, so we can help more people achieve, prosper and grow.”

Serving Harford and Cecil counties for 80 years, APGFCU continues to grow to meet its members’ financial needs. After recently opening a new branch in the Riverside/Belcamp community in May, APGFCU plans to open another new branch at Cecil College in late June providing convenient access for students and staff on campus.

APGFCU is committed to building strong families for a stronger community with 13 locations in Harford and Cecil counties. Membership is free and open to everyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Harford or Cecil County. For more information, call 410-272-4000 or visit APGFCU.com.
